Lincoln County has 726 lakes and 246 streams. Artificial impoundments compise about 58% of the total lake area, with Lake Mowhawskin being the largest, located just west of the City of Tomahawk, Wisconsin. All water bodies in Lincoln County drain to the Wisconsin River, which dissects the county. There are 318 miles of trout streams and 120 miles of sport fishing waters in Lincoln County.

The combination of lakes and streams in Lincoln County provides a wide variety of fishing opportunities from panfish to musky and from walk-in fishing to canoe and large boat fishing.
